Time and tide

After a long time I met up with DC who was our senior at the university. DC is short , squat ,dark and extremely intelligent. He married the prettiest girl in our batch , a fair complexioned south Indian Brahmin .In fact they had eloped .He was about eight to nine years her senior in age.The marriage was quite a topic of discussion during those times. It was a meeting of the beauty and the beast.
That was about twenty seven years back. Their marriage has survived beautifully. Both of them are now teachers in reputed colleges.Both their families are united.They have two lovely children – the son a doctor and the daughter a lawyer. Post retirement DC has plans to set up a rural project in the district of Birbhum , where he has acquired some land. He looks so content and relaxed. Life hs been kind to them. His wife our friend looks pretty as ever only her hair is all prematurely grey. Contentment is written all over her face. They still look at each other with the same love and it does make your heart turn. May God bless them and their tribe.
