Steve Jobs : The Philosopher

Steve Jobs Picture “Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important thing I've ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life, because almost everything all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important
Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.” Steve Jobs

These words always bring tears to my eyes.

The world is paying tributes to a genius. Today ABP carried a wonderful editorial on the great man. I have personally not bought any gadgets from Apple so I have no first hand experience of the man’s creative contribution to this generation. I have seen several Apple products being used by friends and they really look elegant. To me Steve Jobs is a philosopher and a seer.

I first read the transcript of Jobs’ speech at Harvard via a shared link on facebook I was deeply moved. It seemed as if I was reading a philosopher’s message to humanity. Simple yet so hauntingly powerful words .Here was a man so intensely in love with life yet so detached from it. Like all great men Steve’s perception of life, of humanity, of karma is uncomplicated and almost upanishadic in its spirituality and simplicity.

Steve’s message has been read by millions of young people across the world. He has inspired many and will continue to inspire millions in the future. But I am sure there will be many others like me who will find emotional, intellectual and spiritual refuge in his truly amazing life, work and words
