Mexico is the theme this year at the Kolkata bookfair. There is a range of Spanish books on display .I would love to read some translated works of Spanish writers but nobody seems to have any clue where to find them. Kolkata can become a literary city in its truest sense if the publishers and bookfair authorities sincerely try to get some of the world literature displayed and sold at the fair. What is the point of bringing books in languages which majority do not understand or follow.
This year I saw the usual stuff on display. The Penguin stall is beautiful and the range is wide and interesting. Chetan Bhagat was all over the place with huge posters of the writer and books selling like hot cakes in different stalls. He is a landmark in Indian publishing.
I am yet to try his writing. My niece like all teenagers is a fan of Bhagat
