The plight of the girl child

Bharati is late once again for work. Her employer gives her a steely look and calls for an explanation. Bharati quietly sneaks in and starts her daily chores. Bharati has three young kids at home .Her eldest daughter who is just ten years old is the baby sitter at their shack. Recently Bharati has a new guest in her house. An abandoned girl child .The unfortunate girl’s father is Bharati’s husband’s younger brother. The girl’s mother eloped with her lover leaving her two children behind. It was easy to find a foster parent for the boy. Boys are much in demand but girls have hardly any takers.

The girl was left with the father who did not want her. . But eventually she turned out to be too much of a bother for the young man. One morning when Bharati left for work the father left the little girl with Bharati’s kids and disappeared. Bharati is now at her wit’s end. With four young children she is desperate. Managing two square meals a day for the family is a big struggle for Bharati. To feed additional mouths is virtually impossible for her.

She has to find the girl’s father at any cost. Otherwise she will have to find an orphanage for the little girl.
