Kolkata Bookfair 2010

Darwin Now was inaugurated by Dr Saroj Ghosh at the British Council pavilion at KBF .All the Directors of science museums in Kolkata were present , Dr Islam of BITM, Dr Duari of Birla Planetarium, the director of Science City and few others I was unable to catch their names. Sujata was present to welcome the Chief Guest. Sujata is the mistress of PR and does everything with such confidence . She had arrived that very morning and had come straight to the office from the airport. The inauguration went off quite well .Dr Ghosh spoke about Galileo and Darwin . Sujata wanted to have a look at the fair and I accompanied her.At the press corner Shabana Azmi was facing questions from the media. She looked extremely graceful and was very good to listen to. Nabanita Dev Sen was present . Sujata was given a royal reception by the Guild officials and press people. After the event she went up to Nabanita di and greeted her. Nabanitadi mentioned that Shoi had put up a stall for the first time . Sujata and I visited the stall .Small stall with few books. Sujata bought two books .There were two poets who wanted to give the books free but Sujata insisted that writers should be paid for their work. Nabanita di was back at the stall by then. She had left her bag with someone at the press corner and was worried because she had lots of money in the bag but could not remember the colour of the bag. She is such a cute lady.Next we went to Prabir Sen’s stall .Again a small stall with books on saints and great men. Sujata was desperate to find the Mexican food stall.We went round for a while looking for Mexican food .At the end we discovered that the Mexican food festival was being hosted at the Taj. What a let down.
